It was brought to my attention today that we have a problem with players bullying others. I will have a discussion with the players this week regarding bullying and proper etiquette on and off ice, as I have zero tolerance for this behavior. I believe this is a very important discussion for you to have with your child and so I am enlisting your help as parents. Players must know this behavior is not acceptable. Playing hockey is a TEAM sport and as a coach I will continue to reinforce that we win and loose as a team. Win or loose, every player has something they bring to the ice. Please remind your children that we are all part of the same team and it should be their goal to build each other up.
Telling teammates (or opposing teams players) that they "suck" will not be tolerated.
In the future if this behavior continues, I will sit players out so they understand the seriousness of the offense.
Thank you for helping me reinforce this with your player as we are bringing up more that just hockey players through the DYHA program.
