High School

Our High School Hockey program is designed to train, teach and develop skills for high school students (players in grades 9-12) falling within the district approved by AHAI. We play in the Lincolnland Prep Hockey League with games played across Central Illinois.

Ages

What aged players are appropriate for this program?

Answer: Appropriate players in grades 9-12 who fall within the district approved by AHAI.

When

What time of the year does this program run?

Answer: Registration opens in July, with the season starting in October and running until playoffs in February.

Where

Where are practices and games typically held?

Answer: Practices and games will be held at the First National Bank Arena located in the Decatur Civic Center. Away games will be held in various cities across Central Illinois that also have high school teams in the Lincolnland Prep Hockey League.

Practices

When are practices and how often are they?

Answer: Team will practice 2 times per week.

Games

How many games will they play? What days of the week?

Answer: Team will play approximately 25-30 games including friendly, regular season, and playoff games. Games will be scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Jerseys

Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?

Answer: Club jerseys are required and will be purchased separately following registration.

2023-2024 High School

There are no tryouts or skill tests required. Freshman to seniors in high school are eligible (there are no cuts in the HS program).

The number of teams (Varsity and/or JV) will be determined by the Board and Head Coach. If a Varsity and JV team is offered, team selection will occur based upon skill level of players. A selection committee will be established by the Head Coach in conjunction with the Board and Hockey Director. Minimum formulation of a team is 14 skaters and a goalie, per AHAI guidelines.
